Seen on New Day Northwest: 'What to Know About Preventing Colorectal Cancer'

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and to help shed light on the importance of regular screening and early intervention, Overlake Clinics Colon and Rectal physician Mitra Ehsan, MD, shared various tips on KING 5 New Day Northwest.
From the segment: “If you wait until you have blood in the stool or weight loss that’s unexplained or abdominal symptoms, it will be less likely to be cured and less likely to be prevented,” said Dr. Ehsan.
Many average-risk patients are advised to begin screening for colorectal cancer after turning 45. Still, guidance can vary based on your personal or family health history, so it’s important to have a conversation about the most appropriate time to begin screening.
