Seen on KING 5 New Day Northwest: 'Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases'
February marks American Heart Month, a nationwide observance to raise awareness to heart disease—the leading cause of death in the U.S.
To highlight some of the work happening at Overlake's David and Shelley Hovind Heart & Vascular Center, Ronnier Aviles, MD, Overlake interventional cardiologist, discussed treatment options for various heart conditions, including structural heart disease, which are conditions that can make it harder for the heart to pump blood.
From the segment: "There's been an explosion of innovation in this field over the last 10 years," Dr. Aviles said. "It has brought in cardiac surgeons and interventional cardiologists to really move the field forward and make it less invasive for people to have these treatment options."
