Overlake Medical Center & Clinics and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Announce Joint Cancer Treatment Program
Bellevue, Wash. – Overlake Medical Center & Clinics and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) announced today the launch of SCCA at Overlake Medical Center, an affiliation that will bring nationally-renowned cancer care to the heart of Puget Sound's Eastside, and deliver collaborative, leading-edge treatment options to Overlake cancer patients and their families.
"A central part of our mission is to ensure people have access to the best cancer treatments as close to their community and loved ones as possible," said Dr. Nancy Davidson, Executive Director and President of SCCA. "We are excited to combine SCCA’s world-class cancer program with the outstanding cancer care environment at Overlake to provide patients on the Eastside with the most advanced cancer care treatments provided by the best specialists."
Through this partnership, SCCA will provide hematology/medical oncology and infusion services to Overlake’s medical oncology patients, while Overlake will continue to provide the remaining complement of cancer services including radiation oncology, surgical oncology, inpatient oncology care, and ancillary services, such as imaging and physical therapy.
"Overlake is committed to innovating and collaborating with community partners in ways that advance the care we provide to the Eastside," said Overlake President and CEO J. Michael Marsh. "This affiliation is founded on the shared values and care philosophies of the two organizations.”
As Washington’s only NCI-designated cancer center, SCCA brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists from Fred Hutch, Seattle Children’s and UW Medicine. The organization is committed to delivering patient-centered, high-quality care through a multidisciplinary approach—one that combines cancer experts, groundbreaking treatment and comprehensive care from referrals to survivorship—in collaboration with its partners.
SCCA at Overlake Medical Center will provide services at the Overlake Cancer Center in Bellevue, a state-of-the-art facility that received a $20 million upgrade in 2017. With an established and growing system of clinics along the continuum of care, Overlake has earned national recognition for its clinical quality and safety. It is the only hospital in the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett area to be recognized by Healthgrades® in 2019 for Patient Safety Excellence.
SCCA at Overlake Medical Center will start serving patients in July 2020. SCCA and Overlake will collaborate to deploy care pathways, ensuring seamless care coordination throughout every stage of a patient's care journey. Until then, the Overlake Cancer Center will continue to operate as it does today.
