Edward Leonard II, MD, Named a Puget Sound Business Journal Inaugural Health Care Hero
Edward Leonard II, MD, Overlake Infectious Disease Specialist, is among a select first group of medical professionals to be honored with the Puget Sound Business Journal’s (PSBJ) Health Care Heroes Award.
According to the publication, this award pays tribute to those who have made a difference in our community, and “their patient care, research, innovation and management skills have set them apart and garnered high praise from the colleagues who nominated them.”
Dr. Leonard is known throughout Overlake for his passion in helping others—whether they be patients, family members, colleagues or community members. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when confusing or unreliable information was circulating about the disease, Dr. Leonard was eager to educate the public as quickly as possible and became a main source for Overlake video outreach, blog posts and media interviews.
He’s also been a champion of Overlake’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work, serving as the first co-chair of the organization’s DEI Council. Dr. Leonard’s leadership and contributions to the council were instrumental in developing a DEI strategic plan that aims to make Overlake a national model for workplace inclusion, cultural competency and health equity.
Dr. Leonard is one of just 16 healthcare professionals to receive the Puget Sound Business Journal Health Care Heroes Award. He will be recognized for this achievement both in the July 14 print edition of the PSBJ, as well as during an in-person event in Seattle on July 13.
