Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has been recognized as a 2023 Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award recipient by Healthgrades™, a leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients.

Overlake is one of just 112 hospitals—representing Healthgrades’ top 10% in the nation—to receive this distinction. In its analysis, Healthgrades evaluated complication rates and patient outcomes, determining that patients treated at hospitals receiving a 2023 Outpatient Joint Replacement Award™ have up to a 50% lower risk of experiencing a complication than those treated at non-recipient hospitals.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to deliver high quality, compassionate and convenient care to our community,” says J. Michael Marsh, Overlake president and CEO. “With more than 2,000 orthopedic procedures each year, this honor demonstrates that our patients’ safety and satisfaction are our top priorities.”

Increasingly more Americans are choosing outpatient procedures, and the benefits include lower cost, a shorter hospital stay, and the ability to recover at home.

“Through the industry’s first-outcomes-based outpatient award, Healthgrades is excited to recognize Overlake for their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality care to patients undergoing outpatient joint replacement,” says Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “Patients can feel confident that recipients of the 2023 Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award have demonstrated their ability to deliver consistently exceptional outcomes.”

Overlake’s orthopedic program has received numerous honors, including recognition as “high performing” for back surgery, hip replacement and knee replacement by U.S. News & World Report in the Best Hospitals 2022-23 rankings; designation as a Star Performer recognition from The American Orthopaedic Association’s (AOA) Own the Bone® program; and recognition as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement (2019, 2020) by Healthgrades.

As outpatient surgical volumes continue to grow, Healthgrades is working to expand its outpatient ratings methodology to include key outpatient procedures and conditions to help patients find the best care possible.
