Overlake Medical Center Named Top Performer by Joint Commission; The Only Hospital in the Puget Sound Region
Bellevue, Wash. – On Wednesday, Overlake Medical Center was named one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by the nationally-recognized Joint Commission which honored 620 of the country’s most prestigious hospitals. Overlake was the only one recognized in the greater Seattle area and one of only six hospitals recognized in Washington State.
The Joint Commission’s Key Quality Measures award recognizes accredited hospitals throughout the country who achieve excellence in accountability performance. These hospitals are analyzed on evidence-based data that shows the clinical performance for a variety of different ailments including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma care, inpatient psychiatric services, venous thromboembolism care and stroke.
“We are pleased that the Joint Commission has recognized us as one of the nation’s premier hospitals,” said Overlake President and CEO Craig Hendrickson. “Every day we strive to provide patients with the best possible experience while we treat them for all ailments in an environment of accountability and excellence where our patients always come first.”
The list of Top Performers increased more than 50 percent from last year, and 244 of the 620 hospitals are making their second appearance on the list. Those receiving the award represent 18 percent of the Joint Commission-accredited hospitals who report their performance data.
In addition, numerous Overlake doctors have been selected by their peers as part of the U.S. News Top Doctors, a directory that includes more than 31,000 of the nation’s top doctors. The directory is compiled solely through peer nominations to ensure only the best doctors are listed. Overlake continues to be recognized with numerous other awards for excellence in healthcare including Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for the fifth consecutive year, ranking it among the top 5 percent of U.S. hospitals for overall patient safety. Overlake is one of only eight hospitals in Washington to receive this designation.
