BELLEVUE, Wash. (Oct. 8, 2024)After a 40-year career in healthcare, J. Michael Marsh, president and CEO of Overlake Medical Center & Clinics, today announces his retirement, effective Jan. 17, 2025.

Under Marsh’s leadership, Overlake has advanced to become recognized regionally and nationally for its patient safety, care quality and patient experience rankings, as well its exceptional organizational culture and employee engagement. During his tenure, Marsh expanded the health system through key partnerships and acquisitions and completed Project FutureCare—Overlake’s largest campus renewal project in its history. Recognized as a visionary as well as a consensus builder and skilled negotiator, Marsh has led all aspects of the health system to help ensure high quality, compassionate and safe care for its patients.

“Mike has guided Overlake with distinction through some of the most pivotal moments in the organization’s history,” says Jason Thompson, chairperson of the Overlake Board of Trustees. “Under Mike’s direction, Overlake has grown to become a regional health system serving the broader Eastside and beyond, caring for 200,000 people each year who come from 37 Washington state counties, all 50 states and 18 countries. He has fostered a culture of compassion and a commitment to quality, positioning the organization so it will serve the community for generations to come.”

“In my 10 years at Overlake, no honor has been greater or more fulfilling than to serve as President and CEO of this great institution and with its exceptional people,” says Marsh in a message to Overlake staff. “Overlake is a special place, and I will miss it dearly.”

The Overlake Board of Trustees has named Jon Duarte, Overlake’s chief strategy officer (CSO), as the next president and CEO of Overlake and CEO of MultiCare’s new North Puget Sound Region.
Jon joined Overlake in 2014 and has been an instrumental leader in establishing and executing on Overlake’s strategic direction.

“Jon is deeply rooted in Overlake’s mission and values and is focused on innovation and growth,” says Board Chair Thompson. “As Overlake stands at the forefront of a new era, he is the perfect choice to lead the organization into this next exciting chapter.”
