The Our Overlake Campaign: Halfway There

In July 2022, the Foundation launched Our Overlake: Advancing Care Together. This five-year, $55 million campaign raises funds for the work Overlake does in four key areas.

Jan. 2025 marked the midpoint of the campaign. With the help of our community, advancements are happening every day. Below are just a few examples.

1. Growth and Expansion – Innovative, robotic-assisted procedures are improving patient care. New, minimally invasive approaches to heart conditions are improving lives. And upgraded, life-saving equipment has been installed in the Emergency Department, the Overlake Cancer Center and other parts of the hospital. 
2. Caregiving Team Development – Recruiting and retaining our workforce remain overriding concerns as we move into the future. Current initiatives include several programs that provide new nursing graduates and new-to-specialty transitioning nurses with the support and on-the-job training they need to be successful. This year, we are implementing a new program providing paid, on-the-job training for new patient care technicians, ensuring they begin their careers with us and are trained to our standards.
3. Technological Advances – We were recently recognized for our implementation of a new AI software product that helps physicians draft their clinical notes. This exciting advancement reduces the time our providers must spend documenting visits and allows them to spend more face-to-face time with patients.
4. Equitable Care – Overlake serves as a safety net provider for the Eastside and beyond. We offer a generous financial assistance policy that ensures that everyone in our community has access to care. In the last year, Overlake provided $19 million in uncompensated charity care. This year, we have established a new Transitions of Care program focused on ensuring that all patients are in the right environment at the right time. Minimizing backlogs in the Emergency Department and medical floors means shorter wait times for everyone.
