Advancing Surgery with Precision, Innovation and Compassion

– Overlake’s robotic surgery program launches with the da Vinci® robotic surgical system, made possible through generous community donations. Surgeons in urology and gynecology lead the way, using this advanced technology to perform minimally invasive procedures—offering smaller incisions, less blood loss and faster recoveries for patients.

– The addition of a second da Vinci® system allows Overlake’s program to grow, supporting a broader range of specialties, including colon and rectal, general surgery, gallbladder surgery, urogynecology, urology and weight loss (bariatric) surgery.

– Overlake expands into orthopedic surgery with the introduction of the Mako® and ROSA® robotic systems for joint replacements. These systems assist with total knee, partial knee and hip replacements, helping improve precision and recovery in joint surgeries.

– Surgeons at Overlake begin using robotic surgery in thoracic (chest and lung) procedures, further broadening the scope of minimally invasive options available to patients.

– Overlake becomes the first in the Puget Sound area to offer Aquablation Therapy for symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate. This water-based, incision-free treatment brings long-lasting relief for patients with BPH.

– Overlake reaches a milestone with its 10,000th robotic-assisted surgery, reaffirming its commitment to bringing world-class care close to home. The same year, the introduction of the MONARCH™ Platform transforms lung cancer detection—enabling specialists to navigate and biopsy hard-to-reach lung areas for earlier diagnoses and timely, life-saving treatments.

– Today, with three da Vinci systems and an expanding range of advanced robotic options, Overlake continues to offer the most technologically advanced care to patients on the Eastside.
