Electrophysiology Program
The board-certified electrophysiologists (heart rhythm specialists) at Overlake’s Bob and Patty Edwards Arrhythmia Center offer advanced arrhythmia diagnosis and treatments. Our doctors use the latest technology in our electrophysiology (EP) labs to help thousands of Northwest residents improve heart function and live healthier lives.
Arrhythmias occur when your heart beats too fast, too slow or out of rhythm. In certain situations, the condition can be life-threatening, putting you at risk for blood clots, stroke, heart attacks and sudden death. Overlake is home to some of the nation’s top arrhythmia experts. We treat all types of arrhythmias, with exceptional outcomes that improve your quality of life.
Conditions we treat
Our doctors are experts at diagnosing and treating common arrhythmia problems like atrial fibrillation (AFib), as well as slow heart rhythms (bradycardia) like sick sinus syndrome and heart block that are more difficult to diagnose. Learn more about the types of arrhythmias we treat.
Advanced arrhythmia treatments
Different types of arrhythmias require unique treatment approaches. Our doctors use advanced technology in our EP labs to treat common to complex heart rhythm problems.
We specialize in ablations of complex arrhythmias. We also offer a full suite of heart rhythm devices including leadless pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Learn more about advanced arrhythmia treatments at Overlake.
Dedicated electrophysiology (EP) labs
An EP lab is a high-tech procedure room that is exclusively used to diagnose and treat heart rhythm disorders. Overlake is home to some of the region’s most advanced EP labs, where you receive care from experienced heart rhythm experts.
Arrhythmias occur when something affects the electrical impulses that control heart rate and rhythm. In our EP labs, our doctors test your heart’s electrical activity using advanced tools. This enables us to map electrical signals as they travel through the heart. In turn, we can pinpoint the cause of the arrhythmia and make an accurate arrhythmia diagnosis.
After diagnosis, our heart specialists develop a treatment plan that considers your unique anatomy and heart condition. Depending on your situation, you may benefit from medications or you may get a catheter ablation or heart rhythm device to restore proper heart rhythm.
