Access and Inclusion
We continue to assess and improve our ability to provide culturally competent services to all patients. We are taking steps to ensure that every member of our staff feels welcome and included. We also seek out ways to connect with our community outside the hospital walls through outreach and educational programs. Finally, we offer generous financial assistance to patients in need. All of this work is critically important but uncompensated. We rely on community support to help reach our goals.
Charity Care
Overlake offers one of the most generous charity care programs in the region, providing free or reduced-price medical care for individuals with incomes up to 400% of the federal poverty level. No one with an emergent care need is ever turned away due to inability to pay. We are committed to continuing to ensure that everyone in our community has access to top-quality care, whatever their circumstances. Your gift helps ensure care is available to all.
Community Engagement
Overlake is committed to extending services outside our walls. Our Community Engagement team partners with other local nonprofits, offers a wide range of classes and support groups and arranges health screening and health education events. Community mental health needs have become a focus due to the high level of need. We offer classes in mental health first aid for adults and youth, suicide prevention, teen resilience, and more. Other health education offerings include childbirth and baby care, support groups for cancer patients and caregivers, yoga, and other wellness topics. Your gift helps our team to accessibly address community needs.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
To jump-start our efforts to ensure welcoming, culturally competent care and a supportive staff environment, we have established a DEI Committee to enable rotating staff members to take ownership of this work. After several months of data collection and study, Overlake has established a DEI plan that aims to be a national model for workplace inclusion and cultural competency. Our vision includes recognizing and reducing disparities that affect patients, marginalized workers, vendors and community members through continual workforce education and other intentional interventions.
