Checking In for Your Birth
When your baby signals it’s time to arrive, things can feel a little stressful at first. Save time and last-minute stress by preregistering for your birth while you’re still pregnant. It also helps to have your hospital bag packed and ready to go.
How to Get to the Hospital and Where to Park
When you arrive at the Overlake Medical Center campus:
- Follow signs to Garage 1 (South).
- After you park, take the Garage 1 parking elevators to Level 1.
- Use the Building 1 public elevators on your right.
- Go to Level 2 for the Labor & Delivery reception desk.
If you feel birth is imminent:
- Call Labor & Delivery at (425) 688-5351.
- Follow signs to the Emergency Room on NE 10th Street.
- Park in the surface lot.
- Enter through the ER entrance.
- Use the Building 1 public elevators on your right.
- Go to Level 2 for the Labor & Delivery reception desk.
A note about parking: Parking validation is available to patients admitted in the Childbirth Center.
What to Expect When You Arrive
Our new Childbirth Center features spacious rooms, an emergency department just for obstetric patients, and a separate area designated for women at risk of preterm birth who require bed rest and monitoring.
If you arrive in labor, our nursing staff will:
- Ask questions about your pregnancy and contractions.
- Check your vitals and your baby’s heartbeat.
- Possibly check your cervix to see how dilated you are.
If you’re in early labor: You may be able to return to the comfort of home until your labor has progressed more.
If you’re arriving for a scheduled C-section or induction: We’ll get you settled into your suite and go over what will happen next.
Emergency Care
The Overlake Childbirth Center features an obstetric emergency department with private rooms for pregnant women experiencing medical emergencies. Parents needing C-sections may also receive care in the Childbirth Center's obstetric emergency department.
Even during emergencies, we value each parent's individual experience. We continue to work to make each birth memorable and personal.
