High-Risk Cancer Surveillance Clinic
At the Overlake High-Risk Cancer Surveillance Clinic, we are committed to providing specialized care for individuals at elevated risk of developing cancer. Our team of expert oncologists, genetic counselor and Cancer Center support staff are dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based strategies for early detection, prevention and management of high-risk cancers.
Our Mission
At the High-Risk Cancer Surveillance Clinic, our mission is to empower individuals with a high family or genetic predisposition to cancer by offering comprehensive risk assessment, genetic testing, counseling and proactive care plans. We aim to reduce the burden of cancer through early detection and personalized preventive measures while ensuring the highest standards of medical care and emotional support for our patients and their families.
Our Services
Risk Assessment: Research has shown that personal and family health factors can increase your risk of developing certain types of cancer. If you are at increased risk for cancer, taking advantage of additional screening options may detect cancer at an earlier stage — or decrease your risk for ever developing cancer in the first place.
Overlake's High-Risk Cancer Surveillance Program uses CancerIQ, a risk-assessment platform, to help us identify individuals at an elevated risk for hereditary cancer. The questionnaire is easy to complete, and your results are available immediately. Surveillance and prevention are vital for anyone at a higher risk for hereditary cancers including breast, ovarian, gastric, colorectal, pancreatic, melanoma, endometrial and prostate cancers.
Counseling and Education: Our certified genetic counselor will guide you through the implications of your genetic test results and refer you to our High-Risk Surveillance Clinic where our specialized ARNP will coordinate ongoing surveillance and follow up. We also provide educational resources and ongoing support to help you and your family better understand and cope with the risk.
Preventive Screening: Early detection is critical in high-risk individuals. Our clinic provides a comprehensive range of screenings, including advanced imaging, molecular tests and biomarker assessments, tailored to your unique risk profile.
Risk-Reduction Strategies: Our ARNP will work closely with the genetic counselor to develop a personalized risk-reduction plan and provide follow-up appointments and monitoring, which may include lifestyle modifications, chemoprevention and other preventive measures to minimize your chances of developing cancer.
Surveillance and Follow-up: We offer regular follow-up appointments and monitoring to ensure your ongoing health and wellbeing. This proactive approach enables us to detect any potential cancerous changes at the earliest stage.
Multidisciplinary Approach: Our clinic fosters a collaborative approach to patient care. The Overlake Cancer Center works in collaboration with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center at the Overlake campus to provide world-class cancer care on the Eastside.
Access to Research: Our partnership with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center means our patients have access not only to the best oncologists, but also to clinical trials that are paving the way for the most advanced cancer treatments.
