The latest in urogynecology care – from an expert team that's here to listen and create a care plan tailored to your unique needs.

Urogynecologists are specialized doctors who treat urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and other pelvic floor disorders. These conditions are common – and you may have heard that what you're experiencing is normal after having a baby or as you get older. Our team is here to tell you that in nearly every case, there is a solution that can put an end to your symptoms and make a big difference in your quality of life.

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is home to field-leading, board-certified urogynecologists. We have decades of experience treating pelvic health problems. Our care ranges from simple lifestyle changes to the most advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgeries. We’ll help you better understand your treatment options and find the ones that work best for you.

Urogynecology Conditions We Treat

  • Pelvic organ prolapse (POP).
  • Urinary incontinence.
  • Post obstetrical or surgical fistulas (a connection between the female reproductive organs and the urinary tract that’s not supposed to be there).
  • Pelvic pain including vaginal pain, pain during sex and painful bladder syndrome (interstitial cystitis).
  • Urethral diverticulum (where a small fluid-filled sac forms on the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body).
  • Complications from previous surgeries.
  • Side effects from cancer treatment.

Urogynecology Treatments and Services

Our team provides a full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical treatments for all types of urogynecology conditions. Your treatment options may include:

  • Diet and lifestyle changes to help reduce your symptoms.
  • Pelvic health physical therapy to strengthen, train or relax your pelvic floor muscles.
  • Neuromodulation devices, which use electrical stimulation to help control bowel and bladder symptoms.
  • Hormonal and non-hormonal treatments for pain during sex and symptoms of menopause, including pelvic laser therapy
  • The latest surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic surgeries for incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

We also offer workshops and classes about Pelvic Health

An Expert Team Providing Personalized, Compassionate Care

Our team has specialized expertise in all types of urogynecology conditions. That means that no matter what pelvic symptoms you’re experiencing, we have an expert here for you.

Beyond specialized training and the latest approaches, we pride ourselves on taking the time to listen and understand your symptoms and care goals. We know that no two patients are the same and everyone has different preferences. We’ll listen closely, help you understand your options and work to create a care plan that meets your unique needs.

Options and Expertise for Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Overlake's team has the expertise to provide every type of treatment for pelvic organ prolapse. Your urogynecologist will talk to you about non-surgical and surgical treatment options, including:

  • Watchful waiting, where your care team closely monitors your pelvic organ prolapse and suggests treatment only if your symptoms get worse.
  • Pelvic health physical therapy, where specialized physical therapists work with you to strengthen pelvic floor muscles. This does not reverse pelvic organ prolapse but it can help reduce the symptoms.
  • Minimally invasive surgery, which is often the most effective treatment for pelvic organ prolapse. Our surgeons use the latest techniques including robotic-assisted surgery to reposition pelvic organs.

Comprehensive Care for Urinary and Fecal Incontinence

Incontinence is very common and most people will experience some form of it in their lifetime. At Overlake, we offer a full spectrum of care for incontinence including:

  • Dietary and lifestyle changes, such as limiting what you drink at certain times and maintaining a healthy weight.
  • Physical therapy to strengthen and train muscles that control your bladder and bowels.
  • Midurethral slings, which are small, narrow straps that support the bladder and urethra. We place these slings in a simple procedure that typically takes less than an hour.
  • Neuromodulation devices, which use electrical stimulation to help control bowel and bladder symptoms. These devices have offered life-changing results for patients who haven’t been able to manage incontinence with other treatments. We provide all aspects of care for people who need this device, including a support group where patients can come together and learn from each other.

Expert, State-of-the-art Urogynecology Surgery

Many of our urogynecologists are experts in the latest procedures and will work closely with you to decide whether surgery is right for you. If you decide on surgery, we will make sure you understand exactly what will happen during the procedure and what to expect before, during and after surgery.

Patients come to us from across the state and region for our expertise in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries. This includes pelvic floor reconstruction, vaginal reconstruction and other pelvic-related surgeries. Robotic-assisted surgeries are more precise and typically lead to a faster recovery and fewer complications than open surgeries.

We also have specialized expertise in surgeries to treat less common conditions that other urogynecologists may not see very often. These surgeries include:

  • Urethral diverticulectomy, to remove an extra pocket or sac that forms on the urethra (urethral diverticula).
  • Urogenital tract fistula surgery to close an extra opening (fistula) between the urinary system and female reproductive tract. Overlake is home to a surgeon with deep experience in fistula repair.
  • Labiaplasty, a procedure to change the shape, size or appearance of the labia minora or majora, which are part of the vulva.
