  • Sleep education helping patients improve their sleep habits.
  • Comprehensive sleep apnea care including an on-site team with respiratory therapists and registered polysomnography technicians to ensure you have appropriate, well-fit equipment so that you are as comfortable as possible.
  • A dedicated insomnia clinic led by a team of experts using proven methods of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia.
  • If appropriate, medication to manage insomnia, restless leg syndrome and other sleep disorders.

Making sleep studies as easy as possible

Often, the first step in understanding your sleep disorder is a sleep study. We offer sleep studies for children ages 10 and up, and adults of all ages. Our care team will determine the appropriate sleep study for you based on your symptoms. They’ll also consider your health insurance and what types of sleep studies are covered and obtain prior authorizations when needed.

Overlake provides both at-home sleep studies and sleep studies on our campus. For at-home sleep studies, we’ll send you home with equipment and provide detailed instructions and guidance. Sleep studies at Overlake will be conducted in our specialized suite designed to be as comfortable as possible and feel more like a hotel than a hospital.

Most people will only need a single, one-night sleep study. A handful of people may need multiple sleep studies to determine more complex diagnoses and/or appropriate treatment. For your sleep study, we can accommodate a schedule that works best for you. For example - if you work night shift and sleep during the day, we can accommodate for you to have your study preformed during the daytime.

Interdisciplinary care from experts dedicated to you

Many sleep conditions are related to other health conditions and require collaborative care with other specialists. For example, some patients may develop insomnia or restless leg syndrome as a result of untreated sleep apnea. Many people can overcome insomnia with cognitive behavioral therapy rather than though medication. Dental devices or weight loss can often help reduce the symptoms of sleep apnea. We work with you to understand your unique circumstances to determine the best type of therapy for you. We then partner you’re your primary care provider, psychologists, respiratory therapists, dentists, nutritionists or other experts to create the best treatment plan for your specific needs.

A specialized insomnia clinic

Overlake is home to a dedicated insomnia clinic led by a cognitive behavioral therapist with deep experience helping people manage this sleep disorder. Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia helps people identify and change negative or unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors. This approach is a proven way to overcome insomnia and keep it from coming back. After just six therapy sessions, many patients are able to improve their sleep without medication.

Comprehensive sleep apnea care

Our team provides comprehensive sleep apnea care for all types of sleep apnea. The main treatment for this disorder is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. CPAP therapy helps keep the airways open while sleeping and helps to prevent risk factors of untreated sleep apnea which includes stroke, dementia, and heart disease.

We have a team of durable medical equipment staff that work with your insurance for the approval of the device and accessories. We also have respiratory therapists onsite who offer machine education as well as mask fittings and they are dedicated to supporting you while you get used to your device to ensure the best possible outcome so that you can start feeling rested. If you're not sure that PAP therapy is for you, you can rent a machine before you purchase one or our board certified sleep specialists can guide you in the direction of alternative modes of therapy.
