Free Government Support
From consultation on EMR options to technical assistance during implementation, WIREC services are available now and they may be free.
Primary care practices may qualify to receive WIREC services at no charge, thanks to Recovery Act funding awarded to WIREC from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. There are a limited number of slots available to the Recovery Act funded participants.
Learn more about the services WIREC provides and see if your practice qualifies for the no-charge consulting. You can also e-mail WIREC for more information.
WIREC's technical assistance is provided by a consortium of the region's premier health IT adoption organizations and is specifically designed to help practices reach the "meaningful use" standards. Meaningful use, as defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, refers to healthcare providers who demonstrate "meaningful use" of electronic health record systems (EHRs). Providers who meet all the requirements could earn incentives of up to $44,000 from Medicare or $63,750 from Medicaid, starting next year.
Fees to join the WIREC program vary, depending on whether your practice is already associated with one of the WIREC partners, the size of the practice, and other criteria. (If your practice is already receiving EHR-related services from one of the consortium partners, and you wish to join the WIREC program, the WIREC services will be provided through that same partner.)
